Handbook

How TeeUp House works

A members' club for golf — host-driven games, attendance-verified course reviews, and a marketplace for gear. This guide walks through every part of the app, from your first round to selling a driver safely.

01

Getting started

Create your account in a few steps: your name and email, then whether you play as an amateur or a professional. You can sign up with email and a password, or with Google or Apple.

  • Everyone gives their country and gender — both are required, because course tee boxes are listed per gender, and your country narrows the list of golf federations and decides which club promotions you see.
  • Amateurs can stop there — but the same three fields are on the form for you too: home club (picked from our course catalogue), licence number and golf federation. They are optional, and unlike a pro you can clear them again later, either on the sign-up form or from Edit profile.
  • Professionals also give their club, licence number and golf federation — all three are required. Pros don't enter a handicap at sign-up; it isn't used for pro play.
  • Finish your profile with a photo so hosts recognise you when you request to join a game.
⛳

Handicaps are self-reported. There's no automatic federation look-up in this release — the field is there so matching and net scoring work. Our team can mark a declaration as verified by hand, which puts a green verified badge on your profile; automated verification can be switched on later behind the same badge.

02

Finding & hosting games

TeeUp House is host-driven: there's no mutual swiping. A host sets up a game, players who match the criteria are notified, and the host approves who joins.

  • Host a game. Pick the course, date and time, how many players you want, and your criteria — player type, handicap range and distance.
  • Only matching players see it. If you don't fit a game's criteria, it never appears and you're not notified.
  • Request & approve. Eligible players send a join request; the host accepts or declines.
  • Mark attendance. After the round, the host marks who actually turned up. That's what unlocks reviews (next section).

Golf clubs and agencies also publish open tee times that you can request for your group — see For golf clubs.

03

Course reviews

Reviews on TeeUp House are trustworthy because only players who actually played can write them. There's no GPS or QR check-in — it's based on the host marking you as attended for that game.

Attendance-gated

If the host didn't mark you attended, the review form stays locked.

Stars, words & photos

A 1–5 star rating is required; a written review and photos are optional.

One round, one review

Your review is tied to the specific game you attended at that course.

04

Scorecards, formats & QR

Keep score hole by hole and the app does the maths. The game's format decides how the leaderboard is ranked, using each hole's par and stroke index together with your handicap.

Stroke play

Ranked by net score — gross strokes minus your handicap allowance.

Stableford

Points per hole against your net par; highest total wins.

Match play

Holes up or down, head-to-head on net scores.

Every course also has an online scorecard — the club's logo, hole pars, stroke index, tees and local rules — with a QR code that opens it on any phone. Clubs generate and print the QR from their panel. After a round you can share your scorecard straight to Instagram, WhatsApp, X or Facebook, with TeeUp House on it.

05

Marketplace

Buy and sell new and second-hand gear — clubs, shoes, apparel, accessories. Listing is free and a listing stays up for 30 days; you can renew it for another 30 at any time.

  • List it. Add photos, condition, a price and the currency the price is in. Your listing appears in the marketplace and in search straight away.
  • Talk it through. Buyers message you in the app. Payment and delivery are arranged directly between the two of you — TeeUp House does not handle the money.
  • Mark it sold — and say who bought it. On your listing, tap “Mark as sold” and choose the buyer under “Who bought it?” — from your recent chats, or by searching for them. If they only accept messages from friends, you need to be friends, or they need to have messaged you in the app. Marking it sold takes the listing off the marketplace straight away, even while you wait for the buyer's answer. If the buyer isn't on TeeUp House, pick “Sold outside TeeUp”: the listing leaves the marketplace, but no buyer is recorded and no reviews open. “Close listing” is a different button — it takes the listing down without recording a sale. If the deal falls through and you want it back on sale, tap “Relist” — any question still waiting for an answer is withdrawn, and a buyer who said no can no longer change their answer.
  • The buyer confirms. They get a “Did you buy this?” question and have 14 days to answer — you both see the exact date. The question also waits for them under Profile → Sales. If nobody answers in time, it lapses, and you'll see it in your notifications and on the sale.
  • If they say no. Tapping “No, I did not” tells you the sale wasn't confirmed, without giving a reason, and no reviews open. Until the deadline they can still change their answer to yes, as long as you haven't chosen another buyer, relisted the listing with “Relist” or closed it in the meantime — once you do any of those, that earlier answer can no longer be changed. If you picked the wrong person, open the sale and tap “Take it back” while it is still waiting for an answer, then choose another buyer — you don't need to put the listing back on sale.
  • Review each other. Once the buyer confirms, you each have 30 days to leave a review. Reviews stay hidden until both of you have written one or those 30 days are up, whichever comes first, so nobody can react to the other; until then you can still edit yours. Once a review is published, the person it is about can reply to it. A seller average appears on a profile only after 3 published reviews from buyers, and a buyer average after 3 from sellers. A confirmed sale can't be undone.
🔒

Payments happen between you and the other person. Meet somewhere public, check the item before you pay, and keep the conversation in the app so our moderation team can see it if something goes wrong.

Alongside items for sale you'll also see wanted posts (buyers looking for gear) and sponsored cards, which are always labelled. When you've found what you were after, tap “Found it” on your wanted post — you can reopen it later.

06

Messaging & safety

Message any player one-to-one in real time — perfect for “I'm in England tomorrow, fancy a round?” or sorting out a course change. Messages pass through a content filter; anything suspicious is flagged for moderation.

Block anyone

Blocked people can't message you, see your profile, or appear in your lists.

Report content

Report a listing, message, course or sale review, post, comment or player and our team reviews it. To report a person, open their profile and tap “Report this player” — the same screen that has Block. Everywhere else the option sits on the item itself. If someone records a sale with you that never happened, open that sale and tap “No, I did not” first — that answer is what our team looks at when a seller's sales keep being declined. Then, if you want, go to their profile, block them or report it from the same sale.

Automatic moderation

Off-platform contact details and abuse are flagged into the moderation queue.

07

Notifications & favourites

Choose how you hear from us — push (on by default) and email (opt-in) — and mute any notification type you don't want.

Mark players as favourites and turn on “only notify me from favourites”: messages, comments, mentions and requests then only push from people you've chosen. Everything still lands in your in-app feed, and other alerts — about your sales, tee times and rounds, and from us — always come through.

08

Privacy & app lock

You're in control of your data and your device. Turn on App Lock to require a passcode every time the app is opened or returns from the background — your PIN is stored encrypted on your device and never sent to us.

App Lock

A passcode gate for the whole app, set from Account → App Lock.

Export your data

See a summary of what we hold in the app, and email us for a full copy whenever you like.

Delete your account

Permanently delete your account from inside the app — see what is removed and what stays.

For golf clubs

Businesses manage their presence from a separate web panel at teeuphouse.com/clubmanagement. You pick one of three account types when you sign up, and the type decides what the panel shows you:

  • Golf club — the full panel: course pages, scorecard, tee times, tournaments, advertising, reviews.
  • Pro shop — advertising (including sponsored cards in the players' marketplace), posts, an inbox for players' messages, and reviews from confirmed customers.
  • Agency — advertising, plus tee times and tournaments at any course in our catalogue.

As a golf club you can:

  • Publish course media. Add promo text, photos and video for your course. It goes live as soon as you save — we only step in if something is reported.
  • Open empty tee times. Publish your quiet slots. Players send a request for their group; you agree the details and payment with them in messages, then confirm one group, and the other requests for that time are declined automatically. No review, no commission.
  • Build your scorecard. Enter holes, pars, stroke index and tees by hand, add your logo and local rules, then generate a QR code to print and share.
🏌️

Signing up takes two steps. The form asks for your business name, a tax ID or company number and a contact phone number — we read both when we check your application. Creating the account does not finish it: sign in and the panel opens on a document step where you upload your registration certificate (and, for a golf club, claim your courses). We answer within 48 hours.

FAQ

Is TeeUp House free?

Yes — joining, hosting games, reviews and listing items are free. We take no commission on a sale: payment is agreed directly between buyer and seller, exactly as our Terms say.

Why can't I review a course?

Reviews unlock only after the game's host marks you as attended. If you can't review a course yet, ask the host to confirm your attendance.

Who handles the money in a sale?

You do. TeeUp House lists the gear and puts the two of you in touch; payment and delivery are agreed between buyer and seller. Keep the conversation in the app, meet somewhere public, and check the item before you pay. Report anyone who pushes you to move off the platform.

Why can't I review a sale?

Sale reviews open only after the buyer confirms the purchase, and close 30 days later. If the seller chose “Sold outside TeeUp”, or the buyer declined or never answered, there is no sale to review. You also can't review someone you have blocked, or who has blocked you.

Do I need the app to view a scorecard?

No. Scanning a course's QR code opens its online scorecard in any browser — no login required.

Which languages and currencies are supported?

The app speaks seven languages — English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish and Russian — and opens in your phone's language when we support it. When you post a listing you pick its currency — euro (EUR), US dollar (USD) or pound sterling (GBP) — and that is the currency every buyer sees on it. Pick it carefully: the currency is fixed once the listing is published — editing the listing cannot change it, so if you picked the wrong one you need to post a new listing. TeeUp House does not process the payment itself.
